5 tips for creating consistent content for your blog or other social media accounts

1. Batch content.

Create a day in your calendar every week to batch out your content to post in the upcoming week. This not only helps keep you on track to post but it also takes away the frustration with trying to come up with content on the fly. Sometimes you’re not in the mood to post so why not have it backed up and ready to go?

I like to take Mondays for example to create my 5 static posts for the week. I will brainstorm ideas and create the graphic images or collect the photos I want to use for my channels and then schedule them in the Later app on my laptop. They are scheduled out for the week and post to my social channels.

2. Photo days.

Dedicate either 1 day per week or at least a couple times per month where you can shoot some photos to showcase your work and have them to post for future content. This way you can schedule out your time to get ready and style yourself, do you hair and makeup and set aside some outfits. This takes the stress out of being “camera ready” every day too. This can go for not only portrait style photos but this can be for product photos or flat lays. You can have your backdrop, props, lighting and camera ready for taking a batch of photos say on a Saturday morning for example. I love this idea because if I am ready for my photoshoot day, I am now ready for date night or happy hour with friends.

You can archive these and then upload them into the Later app or another social media calendar planning app.

3. Know thyself.

Know when your best time is for writing for your blog articles or your social media captions. Are you fresh in the mornings? Do you have a second wind after dinner? See what works for you and when you do your best work on the computer. I feel that after I have had my morning routine with meditation, exercise, checking emails and light house chores is when I feel ready for sitting down and creating. With the pandemic I have found that I am more easily distracted at home (always something to clean, lol) so sometimes I will take myself out for a coffee and work while I’m sipping coffee outside and this seems to really help keep me focused on my goal for the session. Find a place you enjoy and set a timer on your phone. Usually when it’s time to pack up and go I have accomplished more than if I was distracted at home.

4. Get inspired.

Take inspiration from other blogs or accounts you follow. I like to explore other creator’s work and recreate it with my own style or take on it. I am not saying to plagiarize work by any means, all artists and creators share ideas so this is something you can do for yourself if you are feeling uninspired. Keep a journal of ideas for content so that you always have something fresh to bring to your account.

Keep a journal of ideas to look at when you have to sit down and write content ideas.

You can refer to this when you’re not feeling motivated.

5. Chill.

Lastly, take a step back. On Sundays, I will take a break and reflect. Taking time to recharge always brings some fresh perspective and I usually have new ideas pop into my head to use for future projects. If you’re working remotely or alone, it can be easy to log on to whatever social channel and get caught up in consuming content. Shield what you consume - you will get burned out if you check the feeds constantly. You want this to be a tool for your business, don’t let yourself fall down the rabbit hole. Trust me, I have found myself scrolling and noticed how drained I feel. Limit the content you process so that you can have the energy to create your own. Now you have the ability to set limits on how long you use particular apps so I advise to use this if you can especially if it’s during work hours. Also, I turn off notifications for social media apps and have them on the next page of my phone screen so that I don’t see the red bubble pop up. It keeps me on track and not reactive to every notification that comes through in the day.

I hope this helped you in your content creation journey. Stay tuned for next week’s post!
